George Rousseau Jr.

George F. Rousseau, 72 of Somerset passed away Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of 52 years, of Doris A. (Raymond) Rousseau. Born in Somerset, son of the late George and Wilda (LaFerriere) Rousseau, he was a lifelong resident of the town and a 1964 graduate of Somerset High School. George was a communicate of St. Louis de France Church in Swansea. George had been a mental health worker at the Paul Dever State Hospital and then worked in sales and security at the Car Palace in Somerset. He retired from thr Department of Correction, Bridgewater State Prison, where he was a Mental Health Supervisor. He was a former member of the Somerset JCs and enjoyed making walking sticks which he would give to people. In his younger years he played guitar for the bands, the Satans and the Young American Beatles. He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV. Besidehis loving wife he is survived by two daughters, Tammy A. Bienvenue and her husband Michael of Somerset and Dori A. Pacheco of Somerset; three grandchildren, Geneve R., Spencer M. and Chase J Lanouette; five stepchildren, Brian A. and Andrea Lanouette, Alexa C. and Zachary M. Pacheco and Michell Bienvenue; and his sister in law, Elaine R Jaques of FL, George was the brother of the late Belva Hautau andDiane S. Allen. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7 pm in the Hathway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffington St., Somerset. His funeral will be Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 9:00am from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Louis de France Church, Swansea. Creamation will follow.
