Barbara Herndon Barden

I graduated from hairdressing school in 1964. I moved to Tex. in 1966 for 16 mos;, moved home for a year then moved to N.C. in 1967 for a year. While I was there I turned down a job at the Pentagon to move back home. I worked for Raytheon for a year + then took a job at Npt Naval Base in 1970. In 1971 I moved to "the Island" and met my husband at work. We married in Feb 1974 and lived in Middletown for 5 yrs. Our first 2 children were born while in Middletown. We
have lived in Portsmouth since 1979. Our youngest miracle was born 13 yrs later. We enjoy camping and have a permanent site at the Cape where we enjoy kayaking and just relaxing. My husband retired from the government but works as a contractor part-time. We have become Snowbirds and have a home in FL. Our oldest son is on the Npt PD and the SWAT team.
My 90 yr old mother is living with us in Fl. Our daughter and son-in-law have recently moved into our house in Portsmouth.

I remember sitting at the Via Roma having a $.15 slice of pizza and $.10 soda. I remember the Somerset Lodge , the Milk Can, China Village, Luke's, Pierce's Beach, the Marsh and so much more.
